Jodi & Assaf :: Engagement Photography :: Scarborough Bluffs

“Hey Lew…I need a favour”, began a phone call from Assaf.

Almost immediately, I knew that he was planning to propose to Jodi and wanted the moment captured!

I’ve been shooting weddings with Assaf for many years so it was exciting to see him begin a new chapter in his life.

I arrived on schedule at Cherry Beach.  It wasn’t long before Jodi and Assaf arrived and at a pre-determined spot, Assaf presented her with a card, a hug, and then got down on one knee and asked Jodi to marry him! (and yes, I changed the sign in photoshop! 😉 ).

Many months later, it was time to shoot an Engagement Session for them.  We started at Greenwood Conservation Area in Ajax, with the intent of finishing the shoot at the Scarborough Bluffs.  The forecast was calling for thunder showers – but we were feeling lucky!

We stopped at a field for another quick series of photos…and the rain started…then got heavier.  We weren’t that lucky.  😉  Dark, storm clouds were rolling in towards us so we decided to shoot the second part of the session on another day.

About a week later, we met at the Scarborough Bluffs.  Jodi and Assaf wanted shots with two very specific props – a couch and an inflatable boat.

We moved the couch into position, ignoring the questionable looks we were getting and the occasional offer to exchange the couch for beer or other similar refreshment.

Couch shots done, it was time for some shots with the boat!

As I watched them inflate the boat, I was suddenly overcome with a sense of concern.  What if it sprung a leak?  Could they swim?  How deep was the water?  I soon realized that I was being irrational – they weren’t going that far off shore, they were two healthy adults and were undoubtedly good swimmers…and, I already had their deposit.  Just kidding about that last one… 😉
